Unpacking

Couldn't wait to unbox the finish kit, so I cleaned up the shop and stowed a few pieces that were left in the fuse box. Set the crate off the truck into the shop and Sandi and I enjoyed an early christmas and unwrapped everything. There isn't a whole lot to the finish kit. Looks like everything is there but I didn't do a inventory yet. We brought the canopy in the house so it doesn't get banged around. I put all the parts back in the box and out of the way until I need them.

FYI, I ordered the FWF plans so I could see what firewall penetrations need to be made before I start getting the panel structure permanantly in place. Things that get attached to firwall: gascolator, battey box, starter/master solenoid, cabin heat selector box, transducer port block thingy, throttle/mixture/carb heat cables. I think that's the big stuff. There are also some holes that need drilled in a few places for attach points of various accessory items.

Finish kit arrival!

The finish kit has arrived! Did some serious damage to my wallet though. $408.99 for shipping from Oregon to Kansas. I called Van's to confirm the cost as it's quite a bit more than what the other kits cost. Anne said that the finish kit ships at a higher class because of the canopy.
