KSTJ Breakfast Run

Typical of spring time in Kansas, the weather has been crazzy and weird. It was 80 one week and then we had 3" of snow the next. Winds have been kickin' around quite a bit as well. Finally the weather cleared up enough to do some flying this morning. Sandi & I hooked up with Ray & Brian in the RV-10 and did a flight of two up to KSTJ (St. Joseph, MO) They have a cafe on the field. It is one that open/closes on a pretty regular schedule and is currently 'open'. The last and only time I've been to KSTJ was for a night cross-country. The airport also serves the Missouri ANG. On final the controller said "check gear down" as part of his routine. I later learned the proper response to that is "down and welded"! On the way home we buzzed Jeff's place where we play paintball. The last time we played was July of last year and that resulted in a broken ankle for me. Must have been the Sunday off as nobody was around.

Sunday Afternoon flying

Having not flown in a couple of weeks, felt like I needed to get up for a bit. I spent 5-6 hours on the mower getting the yard mowed. Sky was clear blue with some moderate winds out of the west. Sandi said she'd go with and try her hand at taking some picturs with our new Canon EOS Rebel XTi. We departed to the North to give my mom a buzz and then headed over to my Aunt Linda's place to give her a quick buzz as well, then headed home. Here are some pictures that Sandi took. It was pretty choppy out making it difficult.
